Celessiel Dawnleaf's Character Description

Celessiel Dawnleaf has a unique appearance amongst Quel’dorei or Sin’dorei elves. Thanks to the curse of scourge magic, her skin is a deep gray color, similar to granite or slate, and her hair is bleached icy white. Despite these striking characteristics, upon closer inspection one would notice that Celessiel breathes and feels just like any other living being, and that her appearance is more a curse than anything else.

Typically dressed in scarred battle armor, she almost always has a runeblade with her. On times when she is dressed more formally, she often carries a rune-enchanted dagger instead of a larger sword or other weapon. In addition to her primary weapon, this Quel’dorei elf usually has a small arsenal of weapons and equipment strapped to her person or her mount, for emergencies of course.

Other than her unusual markings, Celessiel appears as any other Quel’dorei or Sin’dorei elf. (It is impossible to tell which she is due to her cursed appearance.) The only exception is her deep blue glowing eyes, which clearly mark her as scourge-touched if the rest of her appearance had not already given that away.

If one were to see her in less attire, her right hip has a long jagged scar across it, which she has tattooed with various runes in the language of death.

Born in a simple Quel’dorei family, Celessiel spent much of her youth and all of her adult life in the forests of Eversong, tending the lands and helping to keep the magical kingdom of Quel’Thalas shaped and orderly. She would aid the creatures of nature and her fellow Quel’dorei in times of need, helping to keep the forests in balance and the land pure.

When the scourge invaded Quel’Thalas, Celessiel and her family were swept up in the hasty retreat of the rangers as the undead legions approached Silvermoon. Almost within sight of the city, they encountered additional refugees at the East Sanctum. It was here that the group realized they would never be able to save the young and injured amongst them unless they left a rearguard.

Poorly trained and ill equipped, Celessiel joined the brave defenders in a hopeless last stand, taking a mortal wound in that battle. Rather than being given the peace of death however, she was captured while alive, and her body was bathed in scourge magic. Her will was chained to the Cult of the Damned, and she served them without question, unable to free herself.

Unlike many of her compatriots, Celessiel was not freed at the battle for Light’s Hope. She was discovered only recently, as the Argent Crusade mopped up scourge resistance around Ice Crown. Since being freed, the cursed Quel’dorei has vowed to use her dark gift to put an end to those who would deal in death and darkness, using evil as a tool to defeat evil, until she is given the peace of death at last.
